Heviz - Hungarian wine and Indian lotuses

Hungary is known all over the world for its spas and hot springs. Budapest - the beautiful and slightly melancholic capital of the country, is sometimes called the largest resort in Europe (the city has as many as 123 hot spring water intakes). However, not everyone wants to enjoy the healing properties of water in the hustle and bustle of a large European metropolis. For those who want to spend their holidays in silence and thermal warmth, I recommend tiny health resorts scattered throughout Hungary. For example Heviz .

Location

Heviz is located west of Lake Balaton and north of the border with Croatia. In its center there is a thermal lake with the same name as the town. The town is really small (four thousand inhabitants), so it can be safely said that the lake constitutes a significant part of its area.

Peace and quiet, warm water

Of course, dozens of people in need of treatment and rehabilitation go to Heviz every year. However, healthy and fit tourists will also find something for themselves here. The local lake is the second largest natural thermal reservoir in Europe. A holiday in Heviz will give us the opportunity to use the thermal baths in the immediate surroundings of nature. Here we will combine experiences from resorts with those provided by, for example, Masuria. We can lie down in the natural, warm water and look at the forest surrounding the lake. There will be huge red lotuses floating around us (brought to Hungary from India!), which will make our holiday exotic.

As befits a health resort, the center in Heviz offers all kinds of services known from the Spa. Tourists can use saunas, swimming pools, cryochambers and finally the services of a masseur.

Once we warm up our bones and get tired of laziness, we can go for a walk. The surrounding forests are dense, but interspersed with a regular network of paths. We can walk along them for hours without meeting anyone.

The town is, as I mentioned, very small, but it seems to be entirely created for tourists. Pubs offering traditional Hungarian food are virtually ubiquitous. Throughout the summer, there is also a fair in the small square in the center where we can buy regional souvenirs and sweets.

For active people

Heviz also has a lot to offer to all tourists who like to spend their time actively. We can reach the shores of Lake Balaton by car in less than fifteen minutes . And as we all know, the Hungarian sea offers a wide range of water attractions

Wakeboarding has been very popular at Lake Balaton for some time now. These are ski lifts that pull thrill seekers across the lake surface on special boards. Of course, you can also, more traditionally, rent a sailboat or sit on the beach.

The Balaton coast is also a good destination if you want to go to a party. In some towns on this huge lake, it actually lasts all summer. So we will have a choice whether to spend the evenings in quiet Heviz or, for example, in Keszthely, vibrant with life and music.

Campsites in Heviz, Hungary

There are several fields in Heviz where you can rent a pitch for a camper (one of which is literally a hundred meters from the thermal lake). Every caravanning enthusiast will definitely find a place for themselves here. However, if by some unpleasant coincidence all the pitches were occupied, you can go to Keszthely, a few kilometers away, and use the services of Camping Castrum there.

I do not have a camper or caravan, but I often and enjoy sleeping next to these vehicles in my small "Alabama" tent. I also like writing about tourism.
