Summer in Italy can be very troublesome. The heat and the ubiquitous stuffiness bother you so much that everyone - both the resident and the tourist - wants to cool down in the water. The beaches of the Ligurian Sea are crowded, but don't be afraid, there is enough space. However, if we want to rest in silence, among picturesque landscapes and singing birds, it is better to abandon the vision of splashing in the sea and go to the lake instead. In Tuscany, a great place for such a trip is Lago di Bilancino, the largest reservoir in the region, created by human hands.

Rest on Lago di Bilancino

Lago di Bilancino is approximately 24 km north of Florence. On hot days, it is an ideal destination for tourists spending their holidays in Tuscany . Many of Italy's lakes are cold, but Bilancino's water is pleasantly warm. The infrastructure around the reservoir is well organized - numerous cafes, pubs and eateries provide tourists with entertainment after relaxing by the shore. In addition, in many places you can rent water equipment, including a kayak or windsurfing board. Beach enthusiasts should remember to bring footwear to the shore, as the beaches surrounding the lake are rocky. You must remember about cosmetics with a strong sunscreen.

Recreation in the midst of nature

On the northeastern shore of the lake is Oasi WWF di Gabbianello , a protected natural area of local importance. It covers an area of 25 hectares (8 hectares of which are flooded), among deciduous and coniferous forests. In the period of bird migrations, it is a resting and feeding place for numerous rare species. Ornithology enthusiasts spending their holidays in Italy - both professionals and amateurs - can admire them from five specially prepared observatories equipped with appropriate equipment. In complete silence, with a watchful eye, we can see a white stork, cranes, wild geese, pink flamingos and extremely rare ospreys. The local observation routes are adapted to the needs of the disabled. You can also visit the educational center where we will find out everything we want to know about the area. There are courses, laboratories and special meetings where photos and videos are presented, showing not only the birds, but also the nature of the area. Mountain bikes can be rented in the center.

Veneto - travels ... culinary!
Veneto, from Italian - Veneto, is a region located in the northeastern part of the country. It borders Austria to the north, Friuli Venezia Giulia to the east, Emilia Romagna to the south, and Trentino-Alto Adige and Lombardy to the west. In terms of size, 18,500 km2, it is the eighth region of Italy. The subcontinental climate and access to both the sea and the mountains mean that tourists can visit it freely all year round - for sunbathing or skiing. Without a doubt, the most popular destination in the region is Venice , the city of canals, which is entirely based on water transport, including the famous vaporetto and pedestrian trams. This important tourist center attracts visitors mainly due to the world-famous Venetian carnival and its characteristic masks. There are also numerous monuments on site, including the Basilica and St. Mark's Square, Rialto Bridge and Clock Tower. The crowning achievement of your stay is a gondola ride on the Grand Canal. The next stop on your Veneto tour may be Padua - one of the oldest Italian cities, worth seeing one of the largest churches in the world, the Basilica of St. Anthony and the largest square in Europe - Prato della Valle. During a visit to the city, it is also worth reaching the Palace del Bo and the University Botanical Garden. It is worth enriching the trip plan by visiting Verona , made famous by Shakespeare with the work "Romeo and Juliet". There, crowds of tourists have the opportunity to go on a trip along the trail of unhappy lovers. Nature lovers, in turn, will rest on Lake Garda , which enjoys the title of the cleanest body of water in the country. There are small towns and numerous resorts around the lake.
