Salzburger Land is famous for the most beautiful Alpine panorama route, with amazing ice caves and the highest waterfalls in Europe. The district of Zell am See lies in this region. Here, between the towns of Sankt Martin bei Lofer and Weißbach bei Lofer, you will find the three greatest natural attractions of the Saalachtaler Naturgewalten.

The district of Zell am See (or Pinzgau) is known primarily for large ski resorts , including Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Saafelden-Leogang, Unken. This is, of course, due to its location in the Central Alps, the Hohe Tauern Mountains, the Kitzbühel Alps and the Limestone Alps.

The region offers plenty of pistes. You can enjoy various winter sports here, but it is also worth visiting Zell am See in summer for mountaineering, hiking, biking and nature excursions.

Saalachtaler Naturgewalten - works of nature

The Saalachtaler Naturgewalten combines three natural attractions near the village of Sankt Martin bei Lofer , which lies at the foot of the Loferer Steinberge. This place is an excellent starting point for skiers, as well as for lovers of mountain hikes.

The first attraction is Vorderkaserklamm . It is a natural gorge located in the Lofer Mountains. It is 400 meters long and 80 meters deep. Walking through the Schüttachgraben valley, included in a protected nature area, we pass the natural swimming pool Vorderkaser and a waterfall. Every year, the water deepens the Vorderkaserklamm gorge by about 6 mm. The place was opened to visitors in 1882, and in 1977 it was declared a natural monument.

About 2 km from the gorge we find another attraction - Lamprechtshöhle . It is one of the deepest caves in the world with a length of 51 km. Visitors have a 700 m section at their disposal, where they can admire well-lit tunnels and dripstones.

1.5 km further, in the vicinity of Weiβenbach, there is the Seisenbergklamm - a naturally shaped ravine carved by water. At its exit there are stairs, and then the route runs along the piers and along the ravine at its bottom, where the river flows. From the viewing platform, we can admire the panorama of the entire Seisenbergklamm.

Camping Grubhof

Lovers of close contact with nature can not only admire the beauty of the Saalachtaler Naturgewalten, but also benefit from accommodation between the wonderful Berchtesgaden Alps and the Loferer mountains. There, near the river, is the family-run and very comfortable Camping Grubhof .

The resort is located between Sankt Martin and Lofer. This makes it a convenient base for visiting the Saalachtaler Naturgewalten. The campsite covers an area of 10 ha. Here you can use plots equipped with sanitary and electricity connections. Comfortable and spacious holiday homes are also available.

There are many facilities for children at Camping Grubhof, including playground and club, where animators organize games and fun for kids. There is even a nursery and kindergarten (with a springboard!).

Camping Grubhof is the perfect place for people who like active holidays . You can practice canoeing, cross-country skiing, play volleyball, use the gym, and rent bicycles and kayaks. For tourists looking for a less active holiday, a sauna and solarium are available. The campsite also provides massage services and a wide range of different types of baths (e.g. mud, aromatic, etc.).

The resort has a rich gastronomic base, including snack bar, restaurant, pizzeria, grocery store. Internet is also available. It is worth noting that Camping Grubhof is adapted for disabled people (toilets, showers). You can come here with your own four-legged pet. After intensely admiring the beauty of the Saalachtaler Naturgewalten, having a remedy will ensure effective relaxation.
