Tuscany attracts like a magnet and is often considered the quintessence of Italy. Cultural wealth, a mild climate, the beauty of nature and delicious dishes are the charms of this region of Italy. We will find there wonderful cities full of monumental monuments, such as Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Grosseto, whose unusual atmosphere is at least partly due to their turbulent history.

Tuscany is a large region divided into several provinces. To visit the whole area, you need to spend at least a dozen or so days . It is worth seeing not only large cities , which are very popular among tourists, but also smaller towns and the beautiful landscapes surrounding them, filled with vineyards and olive groves .

From Siena to Grosseto

The southern region of Tuscany consists of the provinces of Siena, Grosseto and the coastline of the Ligurian Sea. The hills of this area are covered with vineyards. Their grapes are used to make Bolgheri wines. Inland, however, there is an amazing mountainous landscape - Alta Maremma .

During your stay in southern Tuscany, visit Saturnia . It is a famous health resort with natural hot springs with healing properties. Visiting Siena and Montepulciano is also a must. The first is an important tourist center where you can admire the ancient structure of the city . We will see there, among others the magnificent 12th-century cathedral with reliefs by Donatello, the Piazza del Campo market , one of the oldest universities in the world (12th century) and the Museo dell'Opera Metropolitana del Duomo .

On the coast of Tuscany

The Tuscan coast is 32 km long and is very diverse in terms of landscape. Its northern part consists of long, wide beaches with fine sand , while the southern part is filled with rocky coves .

The most beautiful coastal towns in Tuscany are Livorno, Piombino, Castiglioncello and Castiglione della Pescaia. They are distinguished not only by a rich tourist offer, but also by wonderful monuments. In addition, 5 km from Castiglione della Pescaia, you can relax at the unique Camping Village Santapomata .

Lots of people who have stayed there confirm that it is an amazingly nice resort with very kind staff . Tourists also like the area around the campsite and its beach , situated in the central part of the Maremma coast.

If we are staying longer in Village Santapomata, it is worth adding that we will rest there in comfortable holiday homes with a kitchenette, bathroom, air conditioning, a comfortable bedroom and a patio. There are also plots with sanitary and electricity connections.

Italy, Croatia, Spain ... are the countries I would like to come back to every summer. I like to discover new places, whether it is a bustling capital city or a quiet town on a mountain slope.

Places to visit
Green Elba
Today it is hard to imagine that exile to a beautiful island covered with Mediterranean vegetation can be a punishment. For Napoleon, however, it was quite painful, given that he was an ambitious person and, if he could, he would control several places at once, instead of being stuck on a piece of land surrounded by water. Meanwhile, it is enough to get to know this piece of land to envy the French emperor more than sympathize. Elba is the largest of the Tuscan Islands archipelago and the third largest island in Italy. It is situated on the border between the Mediterranean and the Ligurian Sea, and is approx. 10 km away from the coast. The long (almost 147 km) coastline attracts thousands of people every year for whom vacation in Italy is the time of sunbathing. There are beautiful beaches with golden sand and rocky, unfriendly to bare feet. The first group includes, among others Marina di Campo , Fetovaia or Cavoli, and to the second - Capo Bianco and Le Ghiaie. There are many steep cliffs on Elba, natural obstacles preventing you from reaching the wildest places by non-sea routes. The island teases the tourist this way, both tempting and demanding. The persistent ones are rewarded with views of picturesque coves, colorfully colored cliffs and lush greenery. Elba is also a place with the atmosphere of a fishing village. It is loved by divers, both beginners, who can explore, for example, the Pomonte wreck, lying on the bottom at a depth of 10 meters, as well as professionals. They prefer places like Capo Stella , where smooth-skinned moray eels swim between the red coral. On land, tourists spend their time equally interesting - on excursions, mountain climbing and a number of other activities (including a cable car trip to the top of Monte Capanne).
