Campervan, trailer and winter

Winter is coming soon and users of motorhomes and caravans must remember to properly prepare their vehicle for the winter period, regardless of whether they plan trips during the winter or not. Below we present basic information to remind you of some important matters.

Activities for the motorhome:

    • - Fill the fuel tank up to full and add the additive to prevent paraffinization from the oil
    • - It is worth starting the motorhome at least once a month so that the engine does a little work
    • - Check the fluid in the radiator to what temperatures it is designed

Activities for the caravan and motorhome:

  • - Wash the outside (when washing, avoid chemicals containing citrus as this will dry out the rubber seals)
  • - Cover the varnish with a suitable wax, preferably a double coat
  • - Thoroughly clean inside (remember to leave everything clean and dry)
  • - Drain the water from the entire hydraulic system and fill with a special preservative
  • - Leave the taps open
  • - Blow out any pipes with water in them with compressed air
  • - Empty the toilet cassette and fill with preservative
  • - Disconnect and remove the gas cylinder
  • - Wash the refrigerator and leave it slightly ajar throughout the entire period
  • - Leave the ventilation openings ajar
  • - Leave the cupboards and lockers ajar
  • - Place mattresses upright or take them home
  • - Take bed linen and rugs home
  • - Leave the desiccant inside
  • - Disconnect and remove the batteries or connect the 230V power supply to recharge the batteries (2 times a month is enough)
  • - Secure the drawbar in the trailer against contact with snow and water
  • - Place chocks under the wheels of the vehicle and do not apply the handbrake
  • - Beware of rodents !!! (leave mousse traps in the motorhome, or electronic rodent deterrent)
  • - Remove excess snow from the roof if the vehicle is kept under a "cloud"
  • - Do not cover the vehicle with foil or tarpaulin (there must be air circulation, there are special sheets for this)
  • - Now you can easily start describing the reports from this year's journeys and publish travel reports in our section.
