Romania 2011 - part 1 - in the mountains
Day 1
The trailer is ready for the road, the food is packed (that's why the trailer is still connected to 230V), the crew and personal belongings. We can meet snow in the mountains and heat at the seaside.
Departure today 22.00.
There was a little change of plan, tomorrow we want to reach the first campsite in Romania without stopping in Hungary for the time being. We leave the baths at the end of the trip.
Day 2
After 2 hours of sleep in Barwinek before the Slovak border, we continued our journey. In Slovakia, we bought vignettes (7-day for a car = 7 euro, 7-day for a trailer = 7 euro, monthly for 14 euro respectively). In Slovakia (near Svidnik) we stopped at a monument called "copulating tanks".
We crossed that country quite quickly and entered the next one. Hungarian 4-day vignette = EUR 7.5 for a car + trailer set (up to 3.5 tons). Hungary also stayed behind us quite quickly, especially since the roads here are amazing. And we stood on the Romanian border. Here, like in the old days: document control, the question of whether we are transporting any people in the trailer, something about the trunk, but the nice gentleman only saw the documents and told us to go on ... Aaa ... earlier question: To Bulgaria? And we: No, to Romania ... Carpathians, your sea, Dracula. We entered Romania with a smile. At the border, the monthly vignette purchase for a car = 10 EUR, for a car with a trailer - 20 EUR. You can also buy a 7-day trial for half the price. The most expensive fuel in Hungary = about PLN 6 / diesel, in Romania = about PLN 5.30. At the first stop in some seemingly extinct village, we were attacked by a group of Gypsy children asking for chocolates, a box of chocolates etc. We were prepared for it and the children got a packet of candies. Unfortunately, they still did not allow us to drink coffee in peace, and then their mother came asking for cigarettes ...
Quick coffee and off you go. After several dozen kilometers, we already admired the panorama of the Carpathians, which, combined with the colorful fields, created a beautiful view.
About 80 km to the destination, and there is a storm ahead of us. However, I told the crew that the campsite would be nice and we would do a barbecue. The campsite in Aurel Vlaicu is large, clean, fenced, well-equipped (sanitary facilities, drainage basin, garden furniture and ... swimming pool). We stay here for 3 nights (two days). Of course, the grill was a success, the more so because we had a birthday and a birthday boy. After the party, the longed-for sleep without limits, hours of getting up. Driven 900 km. Average fuel consumption 9.2l / 100km (the box and the packed trailer do their job).
Day 3
Then we saw the church in the center and drank a good coffee for two cups in a nearby cafe (really delicious). The conversion factor is roughly 1: 1. On the way, we saw the glistening roofs of the Roma palaces in the distance. Interestingly, the Roma live either in poor houses made of "just anything" or in palaces full of kitschy splendor. Such a palace is impressive from a distance, but not close.
In Strai we stopped at a closed church ...
in front of Orastie a strange monument ...
and in the city itself there are several interesting places:
Day 4
Return to the campsite and rest. Tomorrow we have a long stretch to reach Mamaia by the sea.
By passion ... traveler, photographer, but I am primarily interested in the automotive industry. So far, trips rather by car, accommodation or overnight in the car. A caravanner since autumn 2009. He used to travel with Adria, Knaus, BoXerk, and now HYMER B544 has appeared. What next ... time will tell. Maybe someone wants to read my reports, maybe he will follow me.
