BLS innocent! So who is responsible for the increase in TPL prices?
Since 2015, liability insurance policies have gradually increased. Over the past 12 months, the average increase in prices has been around 10%. That's quite a lot, and the worst is probably yet to come. What will the new year bring us?. Many link higher prices with the introduction of the BLS (Direct Claims Settlement) system by several insurance companies in 2015. Nothing could be more wrong. BLS does not affect the prices of third party liability policies in any way, and their increase is rather caused by the introduction of special guidelines by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (Polish Financial Supervision Authority). They concern the situation of understating the compensation under third party liability insurance policies for the injured. The activities of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority are intended to curb this practice, and since the compensation is to be higher, the prices of the policies themselves as well.
