We know Zagreb primarily as the capital city of Croatia, but Zagreb County does not include the capital, which is a separate territorial unit, but surrounds it. For this reason, the region is often referred to as the "Zagreb Ring". Although it is administratively and territorially separated from Zagreb, it remains closely connected with it. See for yourself that camping in northern Croatia can be just as successful as in the coastal south!

Although the region has no access to the sea, it is worth taking it into account when planning your holidays in Croatia. It has a pleasant temperate continental climate with warm summers and moderately frosty winters. Those eager for contact with nature will find here numerous nature parks, such as Medvednica, Žumberak – Samoborsko gorje, Crna mlaka and Japetić reserves, Cret Dubravica botanical reserve or Sava ornithological reserve. The region is characterized by a varied topography. Hilly and mountainous areas predominate in the west, and lowlands in the south and east. The largest plains are in the Lonja basin.
Those who want to learn something about the history of the country will also be pleased. Among the numerous monuments, it is worth to visit the town of Samobor with the ruins of the castle, the remains of Zelingrad and Okićgrad, examples of the ancient architecture of Turopoly, the castle and the baroque church in Jastrebarskie and the so-called the trail of six castles in the Zaprešić area.
