The winter season in the High Tatras has already begun a long time ago, what has been prepared for skiing enthusiasts this year? New snow-covered routes, increased safety on the slopes, and a number of events where fans of snow madness cannot be missed. This year, several attractions await skiing enthusiasts in the High Tatras. They were prepared in three Slovak resorts which advertise themselves as the best ski resorts in the region, namely in Stary Smokovec, Tatranska Lomnica and in Lake Štrbské.

For a city where it is an honor to walk in a halter around its neck, Ghent (Ghent) has a strong commitment to tradition. It is famous for the great exhibition of flowers and plants organized every five years and for being the first city on the European continent to reach the industrial revolution. The word "stroppendragers" literally means those who wear a noose. Nowadays, to be called that, you have to belong to a prestigious guild. And where does this term come from? In the turbulent 16th century, Ghent went on strike against the high taxes imposed by Emperor Charles V. The angry ruler punished the inhabitants with forced participation in the humiliating march. The most renowned townspeople and members of several guilds marched through the streets with noose at their necks, in shirts and barefoot. The emperor did not think that the punishment would be a great honor, and the procession - an annual tradition, celebrated during the festive festival, Gentse Feesten .

Stubborn Ghent

In ancient times, three castles, Castello Sasso Corbaro, Castello Montebello and Castelgrande, aroused admiration and respect, constituting the defense of Bellinzona. Today they tell their story, guarding the most Italian of all cities in Switzerland. Bellinzona is called the northern gate to Italy. It is located in the southern part of Switzerland, on the eastern bank of the Ticino River. It is famous for its mighty defensive structures - medieval castles, which are among the most important monuments of defensive architecture in the Alpine area. In 2000, all three were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Planica is located in the Julian Alps, hiding in the shadow of the two-thousanders called Ponce, which is why it is sometimes also called the Valley of Ponce. It is famous for the largest cyclical sports event in Slovenia - the world cup competition in men's alpine skiing. The Letalnica (ski flying hill) located here is the second largest ski jumping hill in the world. Recently rebuilt, on March 20-22, 2015 it will again host world-renowned jumpers.

The latter would be delighted with Easter Island - the second inhabited island in the world, the second most remote from human clusters. They became famous as lovers of noble drink, and one of them is the name of the renowned Mandičevac wine. Dakovo is a picturesque Croatian city, famous for being the home town of the most bishops in the country. It is situated on the site of an ancient Romanesque settlement called Certissa, in the eastern part of Croatia. The symbol of Dakov is a huge sacred building with an imposing dome - Saint Peter's Cathedral . It inspires admiration not only with its size, but also with the numbers associated with it. It was made of 7 million red bricks, has 2 slender bell towers, moreover, it houses 7 altars, and the whole is decorated with 43 wall paintings. In the past, William the Conqueror himself made it his seat. Caen was born on a limestone plateau, moreover, this limestone made the town famous due to its high quality. In the past, it was exported to work on the construction of the Tower and Westminster Abbey. The city also owes its development to the Norman prince, William the Conqueror, who built a castle here in the 11th century. Today, the building is a Caen landmark, distinguishing itself from numerous temples. It stands in the very center of the city.
