The Rapido brand is known primarily for popular semi-integrated and integrated motorhomes. An important and interesting segment in the company's model portfolio, however, are also campervans, which we will look at in this material. The Rapido Group, as we know, includes a total of 13 brands (including Rapido, Itineo, Dreamer and Giottiline), of which Rapido aspires to be a top brand - this is evidenced by the degree of technological advancement and high quality, which we have already seen while testing the integrateds and half integrals. In 2021, Dethleffs celebrates its 90th birthday. Its creator - Arist Dethleff made a significant contribution to the development of the caravanning industry, and many technical solutions of this brand over the years have been milestones in the history of vehicle and technology development. Southern countries, including Croatia, dominate among holiday, foreign destinations, as every year. The recently published figures by the Croatian Ministry of Tourism confirm its unflagging popularity. Why do we choose this country? Of course, quite liberal pandemic regulations related to border crossing and transport are also important. Comparing two consecutive pandemic years (the period from 1 January to 30 September), the total number of tourists increased from 7.4 million to 12.6 million. However, when comparing the number of our countrymen in this period, the increase is also about 50% (663 thousand in 2020 to 985 thousand in 2021).

Recently, I had the opportunity to directly compare 2 small campervans, which are practically no different in terms of functionality. However, something distinguishes them. We are talking about the already iconic Volkswagen California Coast and a new brand on the Polish and European market, i.e. the Panama P10 + model. Both campers are built on short chassis versions, which do not exceed 5m, while California is not available in the longer version. Panama can be ordered according to your needs - the P10 + model with a 497 cm long chassis or the P54 model with a length of 534 cm.

Another month of our trip is passing. We are in Turkey in close proximity to Syria. We continue to the east as far as the border with Armenia and Georgia. Coming in a kind of circle in Turkey, we finally cover over 4,300 km in this country. Heading again towards Europe, we visit Bulgaria, Romania and enter Moldova and the independent Transnistria. The Slovenian manufacturer of caravans and motorhomes Adria in the 2020-21 season achieved another sales record at the level of almost 20,000 mobile homes, caravans and motorhomes under the Adria and Sun Living brands. Almost every tenth caravan sold in Europe comes from Adria (the overall market share is 9.5%), while motorhomes and tinsmiths from this manufacturer account for 6% of all new registrations. The total average market share of 7% is the best performance of the brand in its entire history. Adria continues to grow in strength and, as an independent entity within the Trigano Group, continues to boldly plan investments in design, innovation and quality optimization. The production capacity is used at 100%, and new production halls are planned to be opened in the first quarter of 2022 - all in order to be able to effectively respond to demand and the continued boom in the recreational vehicle market.

Autumn in Italy

The caravanning industry, and especially the sale of motorhomes and caravans, is doing very well, as we all see when visiting trade fairs. Courtesy of PGC (Polska Grupa Caravaningowa), we were given some numbers that shed light on the sales structure and the origin of the vehicles. In the ranking taking into account the registrations of new motorhomes referred to as "special campers", Volkswagen is in the lead - among new vehicles, the year-on-year increase is over 100%. The overall sales structure of this brand includes a large portfolio, especially of Polish brands specializing in the construction of VW-based cars, and - of course - Volkswagen's own products with the " California " emblem, leaving the factories in Greater Poland in large numbers. However, the increase in sales of classic motorhomes is also surprising - the Roller Team or Benimar brands, as we can see, recorded cosmic increases in quantity and percentage compared to the same period of 2020.

Boom in numbers - how the market grows

The fair at Ptak Warsaw Expo in Nadarzyn, which ended on Sunday, will surely go down in history due to the record attendance - both at strictly industry fairs and at any gathering, we have not seen such crowds yet. This year's edition had a fairly limited formula in terms of the thematic scope compared to previous editions. There were no travel fairs or fairs for boats and yachts as part of the exhibition (only Power Boats from Nieporęt presented an exhibition of motor yachts). The core of the exhibition were recreational vehicles of all kinds - visitors were welcomed by the cavernous market halls full of motorhomes, caravans, accessories and tourist articles.
