Before we set off on a coveted camping trip, let's check if we have everything. We certainly should not forget about the appropriate kitchen equipment. We'll probably be able to buy what's on the plate on the way. But what about the dishes and cutlery themselves? It is better to take care of them in advance. When choosing the right plates, bowls, cups or glasses, it is best to choose those that will be light and resistant to damage. Therefore, glassware tends to fall off. Those made of melamine or other materials will be better. However, it is necessary to check whether they have the appropriate approvals, so that eating a meal from a camping plate does not have a negative impact on health.

During the Motor Show 2013, as part of the accompanying caravanning event, not only motorhomes were shown (we write about them in separate articles), but also accessories that are worth remembering when getting ready for a camping. Among the stands there was also the representation of the Dometic Group. The company presented both devices necessary for caravanning and practical gadgets. The first one can certainly include a pressure flushing toilet. The Model 972 has a tank full indicator. The tank has a capacity of 8.7 liters, which means that one filling is enough for 27 flushes. The device costs PLN 437.

Poznań trends in equipment

Pulling a caravan with a bicycle is unlikely to be comfortable. Both going uphill with a small house attached to a two-wheeler, and going downhill while the trailer is pushing the bike, can be difficult. However, the idea of a simple bicycle trailer keeps coming back, because such a solution would allow for really cheap and possibly fascinating travel. Therefore, models of caravans for bicycles appear from time to time at the same fair, where you can also see campers and car trailers. And although these bicycle models are rarely more than just concept models, they arouse quite a sensation.

Camping for cyclists

There were plenty of surprises at the 2nd Caravanning Salon. One of them can be considered the fact that among the companies showing campers, a large number were Polish producers. Our conversations show that this year, despite the crisis, they expect growing interest in caravanning in Poland.

7 years passed from the idea to its implementation. A lot has changed during this time. Due to the tragic death of Mr. Robert (he died in a car accident), now Mr. Edmund runs the Unicamp company himself and tries to develop a project in which his brother was also involved in the past. Where did the idea for a floating trailer come from? For the originators - fishing enthusiasts - it seemed obvious. Since most fans of active recreation most like to spend their free time by the water, they should be able not only to spend the night in their caravans, but also to swim on the lakes!.

A caravan that floats

At the 2nd Caravanning Salon, which is part of the Poznań Motor Show, few caravans were shown this year, but there were many campers. Here are some of them. Small, medium and very large, fully or partially integrated, Polish and foreign... Caravanning enthusiasts have plenty to choose from.

The first day of the Motor Show , intended for journalists and VIPs, was full of premieres. And although there were some mishaps, motoring fans had something to look at ... The CampRest.com team could not be absent from the most important automotive event in Poland. Although we were most interested in the 2nd Caravanning Salon (we write about it in separate articles), we could not miss the presentation of the latest passenger cars. This year, a separate hall belonged to the Volkswagen group, which, in addition to the Volkswagen, Skoda and Audi brands, also displayed Porsche, including the 911 GT3 Cup and Panamera GTS models painted in sports colors. However, cheaper cars were also popular, including the new Skoda Octavia, which is becoming more and more "Audi for the People". For those who prefer a full-fledged Audi, there were two new products. The first is the SQ5 TDI, a very strong version of the Q5 SUV. It has a 3-liter TDI engine with 313 hp. Thanks to the sports chassis, the body of the Audi SQ5 is 30 mm lower than that of the standard Q5. The second novelty is the Audi RS5 Carbiolet with a 450 HP V8 engine.

Motor Show - the most important premieres

This British toddler is said to be targeting British obsessions, and these include tea, caravanning and… queues. This is why the manufacturer, Environmental Transport Association, named this trailer - QTvan from the words - queuing, tea, caravan. Although we see a young man in the advertising photos, the producer also addresses him to the elderly. By connecting such a trailer to a scooter, they can slowly move not too long distances, and then calmly wait for the start of the coveted promotion in the store or for the march of the royal couple.

Caravan and railway caravan

Just press one button to gain an additional 5 square meters of space. Is that a lot? It turns out that it is. The interior of Inos, after sliding the seating area apart, is really spacious. The sliding part has both a large double bed and a sofa. After sliding this part off, the caravan will present a neat shape from the outside, but the corridor will disappear from the inside. This means that you need to move the room apart to be able to move around on the caravan. However, such a solution serves a good layout of the living space. It is worth noting that Inos has a really spacious bathroom with a shower, sink, toilet and separate ventilation. The bathroom floor was lined with non-slip material.

In Poland, the prices of Knaus Sky-i start from 65,600 euro. Interestingly, the price on the German website of the manufacturer is lower and amounts to EUR 63,290 (perhaps the reason is the higher VAT tax in Poland). However, it is still about 10,000 more than for a Fiat Ducato with an "attached" camping container. So what do we get in return?. Sky-i is more angular, so it should also be easier to arrange inside. The large windshield was set at a lower angle than in the Fiat Ducato. There are four versions of the motorhome with two lengths to choose from. The shorter model measures 696 cm x 234 cm and the longer model measures 744 cm x 234 cm. Up to six sleeping places can be installed in each version.

Fully integrated motorhome - Knaus Sky-i

The best solution is probably the mini-garages provided in the largest motorhomes. Not only a few bicycles can fit there, but also e.g. a scooter or a motorcycle. However, most motorhomes do not have this facility. So you have to deal differently. Two types of luggage racks are most commonly used. The first type - intended for motorhomes, is mounted on the rear wall of the vehicle. The second type are racks mounted on the trailer drawbar. In a motorhome, a rack such as the Omni-Bike Lift should work very well. It is mounted on the rear wall of the trailer in the form of a ladder to which two rails are attached. Bicycles are mounted on these rails. The distance between the wall of the motorhome and the first rail is 40 cm. 30 cm further there is the second rail.

Take your bike camping

The old good-natured Volkswagen T2 was perhaps not the most spacious motorhome in history, indeed, it was not designed for camping at all, but it certainly had a lot of charm. Today, like the old Beetles, it awakens sentiments and is associated with the good old times that will never repeat themselves again ... Really? British brand from the Bristol area decided to combine business with pleasure. Usually, it remakes slightly newer Volkswagen models (Caddy and T5), but recently its biggest hit is the new, yet quite familiar, T2 model.
